Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has revealed that he has been in touch with Romelu Lukaku since the Belgian international signed for Chelsea last summer. Didier Drogba made this known in a chat with popular media outlet The Athletic as he said that he doesn’t need to speak with Lukaku on a daily basis and that the former Everton striker knows what to do.
Didier Drogba is certain that Lukaku will justify his big transfer fee at Chelsea and that he’s aware that signing for the West London giants would bring a little bit of pressure in comparison to his time at Inter Milan where he won the Italian Serie A title last season.
Drogba said he doesn’t need to advise Lukaku on how he can do what he did during his time at the club. The Ivorian football legend endured a difficult start to his Chelsea career in 2004 to become a club legend. He believes that Lukaku can also emulate him by recovering from a similarly difficult start to become a Chelsea legend.
Lukaku signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht in his home country as a teenager striker and he was sent on loan to clubs such as Stoke City, West Brom and Everton before he sealed a big-money transfer to Everton. The all-time Belgian topscorerspent some years at Everton beforehe signed for Manchester United in a £75m deal in the summer of 2017. He didn’t hit meet up with the huge expectations at Manchester United prompting him to leave the club for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019. At Inter, Lukaku became one of the best strikers in the world under Italian manager Antonio Conte. He enjoyed the best spell of his career at the San Siro, but he has not been able to show a similar form at Chelsea.
