PREMIER LEAGUE: CECH PREDICTS TITLE RACE

Chelsea legend Petr Cech has predicted the Premier League title race in a chat with TalkSPORT. According to him, the Premier League title won’t be a two-horse race, referring to Chelsea and defending  champions Manchester City. The likes of West Ham United and Liverpool have also impressed in the league this season.

Petr Cech has been impressed with the start made by Chelsea this season. He also praised the coaching crew and how they have been able to take the team to the Premier League summit despite the lack of a quality pre-season.

Ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech also touched on the Burnley game on Saturday and how they were lucky to leave Stamford Bridge with a point. The Czech football legend expressed his happiness with the quality of football played against the Clarets and that Chelsea were unlucky not to pick up the three points that would have extended their lead at the summit to five points.

Petr Cech is the performance and technical director at Chelsea and he has been in the role for two years and counting.

Chelsea began the Burnley game with a two-point lead over rivals and defending champions Manchester City in second place. Manchester City had beaten Manchester United 2-0 away from home in the derby thanks to the goals from Eric Bailly (own goal) and Bernardo Silva to close the gap on the Blues to two points. Chelsea had five more points than Manchester City ahead of the last round of games.

With the 1-1 home draw with Burnley, Chelsea were unable to stretch their advantage over City to five points. The Blues took the lead through German national team star Kai Havertzin the first half and they wasted several opportunities to add to their lone goal, before substitute Matej Vydra scored in the last eleven (11) minutes to rescue a point for the Clarets.
